“Michael’s work on both the City’s Library and Early Education Commission and the School Board show his dedication to public service and the children of San José. We need more leaders like Michael who are truly dedicated to improving their community. “

“Melillo’s years of numbers-crunching experience leave him especially well suited for helping the board on financial issues. His cool, reasoned approach also will be of value if those problems get heated. He lists among his top priorities developing partnerships with the city and county to work on creative solutions to provide affordable housing for teachers and classified staff, noting that the district has land suitable for housing.”

“Michael has already become a visionary leader on issues related to the district’s finances and strategic planning … and he rallied his board colleagues to launch a facilities master planning process that aims to improve educational opportunities for all students, to provide better stewardship of district assets, and to create long-term housing options for teachers and other district employees.”

Welcome.

I'm running for San José Unified School District Board Trustee to serve our great community.

My family loves San José and I think that I can make it even better by continuing to serve on the SJUSD Board of Education.

ENGAGED PARENT

I think it's important that the Board of Education reflect the interests of current parents in the district. As a parent of two elementary school students, I'm invested in SJUSD for the long term.

Technology + education

As a veteran of the technology industry, I know how valuable it is for the curriculum of our students to stay relevant, and focused on not only the economy of today, but also tomorrow.

Community Servant

I serve as a City of San José Library and Early Education Commissioner and an adult literacy tutor with the Partners in Reading program. Volunteering in our community for the betterment of society is an honor and privilege.
